Herba Eupatorii ayapanae
Dược liệu là bộ phận trên mặt đất phơi khô hoặc tươi của cây ba dót hoặc bả dột có nơi gọi là mần tươi tía - Eupatorium ayapana Vent., họ cúc-Asteraceae.
Đặc điểm thực vật.
Cây thuộc thảo cao 30-50 cm. Thân tròn, đường kính 2-3mm. Đốt thân dài 4-5cm. Thân có màu tím nhạt. Lá mọc đối, phiến lá nguyên, mép hơi gợn sóng. Phiến lá gần cuống kéo thót lại. Lá dài 5-10 cm, rộng 1,5-2cm có 3 gân nổi rõ. Cuống lá ngắn, vò lá có múi thơm hắc. Hoa dạng đầu hợp thành ngù, hoa trắng hay phớt hồng.
Thành phần hóa học.
Bộ phận trên mặt đất chứa các chất coumarin: ayapanin hay có tên khác là herniarin, chất thứ hai là ayapin. Trong tinh dầu có một số thành phần đã được xác định: thymolquinol dimethyether là thành phần chính, ngoài ra còn có methylthymyl ether và thymoquinon.
Tác dụng và công dụng
Trên thực nghiệm ba dót có tác dụng làm hạ huyết áp và làm dãn mạch, chứng minh được kinh nghiệm trong dân gian dùng dược liệu trên để điều trị cao huyết áp. Ngày dùng 6-12g, dạng thuốc sắc. Nhân dân còn dùng lá ba dót để chống mọt khi bảo quản cau khô.
